Diane McCarten:  - B.Ed., major in Art.  Diane furthered her art studies at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas.
After living abroad for years, Diane resides in Nanoose Bay, B.C.Each place Diane lived has influenced her life and therefore her art work.

In 2003 Diane  had a solo exhibit at The Jung Center, Houston, Texas.  The body of work displayed was part of her “Vessel Series”.  Moving on from the ‘Vessel Series’, she exhibited a new series she refers to as ‘Return to Being’ at Design Works Gallery, Galveston, Texas in 2006.  In 2009 she exhibited a body of work she refers to as “From There to Here”.

Between solo exhibits, Diane was part of many juried group exhibits, taught art and traveled.  She has two children, one grandson and one grandaughter.

Diane likes to experiment and create with mixed media, colour, lines, textures and shapes and the promise of new discoveries makes her a highly motivated painter.  She says she does not like to preplan paintings, preferring to draw upon that which comes from beyond conscious thought.  She works intuitively and her work represents various perceptions and feelings she holds about life and spirit.

Her work can be seen at Design Works, Galveston, Texas;  Westmount Gallery, Toronto, Ontario;  Harbour View Gallery, Mississauga, Ontario;  The Englishman River Gallery, Parksville, B.C.; and at Ian Garroich's Dolphin View Art Gallery, Nanoose Bay.
